GAMXX Oil Refinery

A sharp contrast to the moody husks of derelict schools or hospitals, the sun-drenched ruins of the GAMXX Oil Refinery were unlike anything I'd ever seen. Built in 1967, the 120 acre site could refine and store 28,000 barrels of marine, jet, and military fuel a day. It was connected to Seabury Station, a pumping facility in Kushla, AL, via a 10", 26 mile long pipe.
GAMXX closed in 1988. In 1994 a deal was nearly reached with a Tucson based company to reopen it, but it fell through. The facility was declared a Superfund site and demolished in 2010.
