Closed in 2008 during a massive effort to consolidate Catholic schools, the Saint Margaret Mary school is starting to show the first signs of decay from disuse. Despite this, the classrooms and halls are vibrantly painted and full of reminders of the personal investment the teachers and students had in the space. The building is currently about to undergo an extensive asbestos abatement and will then be converted to a school for children with developmental disabilities. It is fortunate that the structure itself will be reused, but all the trace evidence of its previous existence will soon be removed to make way for its future.
